What UPI Circle Does

UPI Circle allows a primary user to delegate payment permissions to secondary users (family members, dependents) with spending limits and transaction controls. The secondary user can make payments from the primary's account up to the set limit — without sharing credentials or having their own linked bank account.

Real-World Use Cases

This is particularly useful for parents managing spends for college-going children, elderly individuals who want to delegate day-to-day payments to a caregiver, or small businesses allowing employees to make vendor payments within approved limits.

Adoption Status

As of April 2026, UPI Circle is live on PhonePe, GPay, and Paytm. Adoption has been faster in urban households but NPCI is pushing regional-language onboarding to accelerate rural uptake. If you want to enable it, look for the "Delegate" or "Permissions" section in your UPI app.
